Designed by Chang Architects, Maple House is a single-storey family home in Bukit Timah shaped by a desire for quietness, privacy and a closer relationship with nature. Rather than building something unnecessarily larger, the architects retained the familiar scale of the family's previous home, preserving the original pitched roof and rubble boundary wall while allowing timber, stone, gardens and water to shape the experience within. Spaces unfold gradually and remain closely connected to the landscape, creating a home that feels generous without being extravagant. As the architects put it, “Perhaps that is what architecture does. It quietly stays with us, until one day, it becomes part of our own story.”
